Mobile Phone & PC Batteries

  • Avoid: SOC <20%

  • Recommended: Top up allowed at 40%–50% SOC; frequent shallow charging acceptable

  • Caution: No long-term undercharge (<80% consistently); optimal target 80%–90%; avoid 90%–100% unless necessary; unplug promptly after full charge

Reasons & Key Notes

  1. High-voltage loss control: 90%–100% SOC → intensified electrode side reactions; limit upper charge limit to extend life

  2. Deep discharge damage: Complete discharge (auto-shutdown) → extremely low cell voltage → significant capacity shrinkage (same as golf cart lithium batteries)

  3. Shallow charging vs Undercharging:

    1. Shallow charging: Top up at low SOC, stop at 80%–90% (protective)

    2. Undercharging: Consistently stop at 60% & long-term low SOC use (damaging)
